Melbourne Wedding Videography

Melbourne Wedding Locations

By | Wedding Videography Blog | No Comments

We may be biased, with our home town by the bay, but Melbourne has a charm unlike any other that makes it the right location for a wedding. With a melange of inner city grit, bayside beaches, and gorgeous green parklands, plus the special gift of not quite knowing what the weather will bring (maybe that’s something only Melburnians understand!), Melbourne offers something unique for every wedding we attend.

Some of our highlights from 2013 include:

Noa and David

Noa, Preparing for her Melbourne Wedding

David and Noa: Undoubtedly both the smile and the dress of the year if there were Turbo Awards, the wedding of Noa and David deserves a special mention. Noa wore a silk dress with jewel encrusted lace, and their smiles couldn’t have been broader or more infectious. The couple decided to showcase the best of Melbourne’s landscape, choosing the Royal Botanic Gardens for their photo shoot. On one of those special blue-skied Melbourne summer days, David and Noa then moved to their reception at Encore, St Kilda Beach, with the backdrop of the St Kilda beach, iconic pier, and a few backpackers and joggers for good measure.

Winery weddings:

Laura and Anthony

Whether the Bellarine Peninsular (at Terindah Estate) for the wedding of Laura and Anthony in January, or the Yarra Valley for the wedding of Vanessa and Nick in February, Victorian wineries and wine regions are always popular spots for a wedding.

Some of our favourite spots in the wine region include:

Chateau Yering (check out our 360 degree tour): this location exudes old-world charm, a lush lawn which can be hired out for ceremonies, and accommodation for visiting guests.

Stones of the Yarra Valley: with a converted barn, a chapel, and a gorgeous function room that used to be a hay-store, Stones has it all.

Domain Chandon: few brides who are passing Chandon cannot resist a photo shoot in this spectacular winery, and the bubbly and cheese cannot be bypassed either!

But, when a winery isn’t for you, there are other country locations that should be considered…

Daylesford: just over 3 hours outside of Melbourne has long been known for spa indulgence, but it also offers true country charm to the wedded couple. In 2013, Sallie and Luke wed in this charming region. With her preparations at the Breakneck Gorge Retreat in Hepburn Springs, perched on a mountain top with unspoilt views of the valley below, Sallie then met her husband at the Daylesford Cider Company to seal their nuptials. The photo shoot took us to a haunting location at a disused barn. Tamara Cadd took this spectacular photo (left) of the newlyweds as a rainbow appeared on the way to the reception.

The Dandenongs is close enough for a day trip, or for a weekend away for those guests who need to get out of the city. Our pick at the foothills of the Dandenongs is Chateau Wyuna (check out our 360 degree tour).

And what about weddings in the thick of Melbourne?

For a modern feel, Luminare rooftop offers great views of Melbourne CBD, in central South Melbourne. A great location to duck down to Albert Park Lake or Middle Park Beach for photos, or have some urban photos in the South Melbourne Market. You can’t go past a coffee at the cafes around the area, like Chez Dre or St Ali. It’s a great area for your guests to be in while you have your Melbourne Wedding Videography and Photography shoot.

Then there is Carousel. For those old enough to remember it as a nightclub, Carousel on the banks of Albert Park Lake has a lake-side deck, and a warm, inviting reception centre that can suit your needs.

We love weddings at the Melbourne Zoo. Whether it is a barbecue reception, or something a little more fancy, the Rainforest Room in the heart of the zoo grounds provides a relaxed, family feel. And your guests can wander the grounds during the downtime between ceremony and reception.

And living in this city, it would be amiss not to mention some of our favourite hangouts:

Cookie: located in the centre of the CBD, it undoubtedly has the “best” pork belly curry we have ever tasted. I welcome suggestions on other places to try. www.cookie.net.au

Albert Park Village: the whole place provides something special, and we haven’t eaten a bad meal there.

Di Bella Roasting Warehouse in North Melbourne: we pride ourselves in knowing our coffee, and you cannot get better than this.  19-21 Leveson St, North Melbourne

Live Stream Wedding

Live stream weddings: capturing your memories as they happen.

Recently, at a suburban Melbourne church, we witnessed the special baptism of a friend’s son. With an Australian mum and a dad who called the US home until recently, it was only natural that one of the godparents beamed into the church.  Through a smart phone, an app and loud speaker, for a brief moment everything looked perfect, only to drop out halfway through the ceremony and the role to be fulfilled by a stand in (one of the maternal grandparents)……

On your wedding day, you don’t want the risk of technology failing you, so Turbo Productions takes the worry away with our live streaming service.  As more and more couples are a union of two people from different cities, states and at times countries, it takes out the stress and logistics of connecting your wedding day with all of your lifelong friends.

We showcase the weddings of 3 couples in the past 6 months who have brought friends and family from afar to be part of their special day, unconventionally through the power of the Turbo Livestream Service.

Kirby and Mitchell, Fitzroy Falls (NSW)

[pullquote align=”center”]“My dad organised a videographer from Turbo Productions who was able to LIVE stream the entire wedding online for my relatives in Melbourne who were unable to make the wedding. I was especially happy to know my grandparents could still be a part of my special day from the comfort of their living room.”[/pullquote]

When Kirby’s father contacted Turbo Productions for our videography services, he explained that he was interested in Turbo Livestream. He wanted to give Kirby’s grandparents a front seat view of their granddaughter’s wedding but due to the location of the ceremony, with his parents living interstate, it would only be possible through videography.
Turbo Productions drove up from Melbourne to the picturesque little chapel in Exeter, NSW in time for the dress rehearsal and understood immediately why the couple had chosen it. It stood in a magical green valley, reminiscent of an English hamlet.
With the challenge of a high speed internet connection, the chaplain ran a cable from the house to his chapel and we were able to test the connection the day before the big day.

And it went off without a hitch. Not only did Kirby’s grandparents get to participate in the ceremony, but they got to eyewitness the reception, with Kirby and Mitchell sneaking up to the camera with special messages just for them. For Kirby, this completed her day.

We also caught some of the groomsmen goofing around for the hidden HD cameras which they had spotted in the preparations, but that’s a story for another day, and possibly to be aired at their own wedding.

Marcus and Winnie, Heide Museum, Bulleen (Vic)

Heide Museum Wedding VideoMarcus contacted Turbo Productions a few weeks before his wedding to Winnie, with his wedding videography needs. They celebrated an intimate outdoor wedding at the Heide Museum of Modern Art in leafy Bulleen, Victoria, along with Marcus’s adorable dog as an attendant,  prior to jetting off to their honeymoon and a second celebration with Winnie’s extended family. Marcus wanted to share the moments as they happened with Winnie’s Malaysia-based family, with the additional request to get a highlights reel to the married couple before they flew out the next day.

We love bringing families together and were excited to offer Turbo Livestream. Marcus’s poetic and heartfelt speech, the casual but intimate setting, and our ability to fade into the shadows to provide an unobtrusive documentary of their day was live streamed into the living rooms of Winnie’s family… And just as our name suggests, we got a “turbo” edit of the DVD into their luggage as they jetted off the very next day.

Hugh and Clare , RACV Club, Cape Schank (Vic)

Clare and Hugh - Cape Schank Wedding VideographyHugh was a best man in one of the previous weddings captured by Turbo Productions, so when Hugh and Clare approached us for a photography, videography package, inclusive of Turbo Livestream and Turbo Slow Motion Booth, we were thrilled.

With over 6 cameras on the day, and three of our crew, it could’ve been quite crowded, but we did what we do best and captured the day without photo bombing our own footage. Turbo Livestream complemented the day and ensured that Clare and Hugh could syndicate the day to friends and family who couldn’t make it, via social media.

What resulted was a rich collection of footage showing both the special moments of the couple, the spectacular peninsular backdrop and a unique way of capturing guests letting their hair down.
[pullquote align=”center”][Turbo Productions] did not disappoint in any way on my wedding day … The end products were also top notch … The DVD captured all of the highlights of the day in a great style that was fun to watch back…We would have no hesitation in recommending Turbo Productions[/pullquote]

What is Turbo live stream?

Turbo Livestream connects a high definition camera and a series of microphones to a feed to www.turbolivestream.com.au as the moments happen. All you require is a high speed internet connection or a 3G/4G data coverage at the venue. The bride and groom are given a dedicated website link prior to the ceremony to share with their family and friends to stream via the internet as it happens. For the married couple, whose day often slips by in a nano second, it can also be replayed immediately after the ceremony ends.

Memories are made live …. And now you can watch them live too! Contact us at turbolivestream.com.au to learn more about using live stream at your Australian or South Pacific wedding.
